Product Description

Fun with electricity.

Electricity gives us the effect of electrical current and can be transformed into magnetic energy. Students will get a chance to construct an electric switch and electromagnets to see these effects. Wires that form a closed circuit allow electric to flow. Electric switches are used to turn electric currents off and on. You can see this everyday when you use an appliance.  Electric energy can be transformed into a magnetic energy by building an electromagnet. The magnetic field can be strengthened by increasing the number of coils or the amount of energy flowing through the wire.

In Electric Switch and Electromagnet activity, students will:

  • Build an electric switch
  • Investigate current flow and the conversion of energy from one form to another
  • Build an electromagnet
  • Discover the connection between magnetism and electricity

In the Electric Switch and Electromagnet activity, each student receives enough materials to build an electric switch and an electromagnet. Each student also receives worksheets for learning and recording their discoveries with the electromagnet.

The teacher guide provides the educator with instructions, background information and discussion points for this lesson in electricity.

Each Classroom Kit comes with a Teacher's Guide, Student Worksheets and a 25 sets of lab materials for each activity. The Teacher's guides are written in such a way that any instructor, if the lesson plans are followed, is able to teach every lesson on a professional level. 25 copies of the student lesson plans are conveniently provided for each student activity. The kits are designed so that an educator opens the box and can begin teaching.

The Classroom Kits are packaged so that each student receives their own materials to perform the activity's investigation. The lab materials are separated, for each student, to minimize preparation time in the classroom. All kits include the necessary materials to perform the activity. No outside materials (with the exception of water in some activities) are required. The kits even include common classroom materials if the activity requires them such as crayons, pencils, or tape.

The Homeschool Kits contain a teacher manual, student activity worksheets, and lab activities packaged for one student.
