It all starts with a seed of an idea!

Seeds are potential plants.  They need the right conditions to awaken in grow (temperature, moisture light and air).  There are many similarities from one seed to another, there are also many differences.  Seeds are different sizes, shapes and germinate differently.  Some plants produce many seeds, while others only produce a few.  Some seeds are edible, others are not.  

In the "Classification and Growth of Seeds" activity, the student will:

  • Compare and contrast different seeds as they relate to their natural design and function
  • Identify parts of the seed as they relate to the growth of a new plant
  • Explain different phases in the growth of seeds
  • Observe the growth of seeds in different conditions
  • Chart the growth of different and plants
  • Learn interesting facts about seeds

Each student receives their own lab supplies, hand lens, and seeds of various shapes and colors, to conduct the Classification and Growth activity.   Students will make observations about seeds and then plant the seeds and watch them grow.  Student worksheets help the student identifty the parts of seeds and to chart their growth.

The Teacher's Guide provides background information for the Seeds Lesson.  The Guide also provides procedures and discussion points to help the instructor lead this Life Science activity.

Each Classroom Kit comes with a Teacher's Guide, Student Worksheets and a 25 sets of lab materials for each activity. The Teacher's guides are written in such a way that any instructor, if the lesson plans are followed, is able to teach every lesson on a professional level. 25 copies of the student lesson plans are conveniently provided for each student activity. The kits are designed so that an educator opens the box and can begin teaching.

The Classroom Kits are packaged so that each student receives their own materials to perform the activity's investigation. The lab materials are separated, for each student, to minimize preparation time in the classroom. All kits include the necessary materials to perform the activity. No outside materials (with the exception of water in some activities) are required. The kits even include common classroom materials if the activity requires them such as crayons, pencils, or tape.

The Homeschool Kits contain a teacher manual, student activity worksheets, and lab activities packaged for one student.
